Lothrop Associates master planned a technology park for an international client. The technology park is adjacent to a University for coorperative projects. The technology park includes research and development laboratory space, office space, hospitality, retail and other amentities in a campus like setting.

Lothrop Associates designed a new Network Operations Control Center for a 100,000 square foot data center for an international client.
Confidential Client - Brokerage Firm - Data Center

A global asset management firm, selected Syska Hennessy Group and Lothrop Associates to provide integrated design and construction services for their data center. Our team designed and constructed the 20,000 square foot data center. The project included provisions for a tape library and SAN environment. The owner required an installation that is aesthetically pleasing and highly maintainable.
Confidential Client Data Center

Lothrop Associates developed a hurricane resistant prototype data center for a confidential client. The building features louvered walls to protect outdoor equipment from airbourne projectiles, roofs without penetrations, slabs above flood grade and other amenities.
Huawei Data Center - Shenzhen, China

Huawei is a leading global IT solutions provider offering services for networks, enterprise, consumer and cloud computing fields. They are servicing more than 140 countries and a third of the world's population. Syska Hennessy Group and Lothrop Associates designed the 250,000 square foot data center.
Verizon Communications Inc. - Generator Facility

Lothrop Associates designed a 10 megawatt generator facility to support the Verizon Communications Inc. data center and headquarters facility in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. The generator building design includes plans for load shedding when required by the local utility. The project has N+1 redundancy, special enhanced urea pollution controls for ammonia emissions, fuel polishing and other quality features.
Confidential Client - Data Center

Lothrop Associates designed an 80,000 square foot Texas data center with 40,000 square feet of white space to Uptime Institute Tier 3 standards. The structure is a tilt up precast system, common to Texas , with steel truss system allowing a column free white space network room. The structure is site hardened for security, severe weather and air born projectiles. The facility has dual utility electric service entrances, 10 megawatts generator capacity and 600 tons cooling capacity.
Catholic Health Services of Long Island - Data Center

Catholic Health Services of Long Island is comprised of six hospitals, three nursing homes, a regional home care and hospice network. We expanded the existing centralized data center to 8,000 square feet, tripling the white space and doubling the generator capacity.
Columbia University - G20 Data Center Infrastructure Upgrade

The electrical upgrades for Columbia University's G20 data center included new electrical service distribution from one side of the campus to the other and new electrical gear room with UPS and ATS equipment. Electrical room is located above the service loading area and suspended below a pedestrian bridge. Project is funded by a grant from the National Institute of Health (NIH) and was required to follow NIH standards.
National Mircofinance Bank - Tanzania

NMB, established in 1997, strives to provide access to citizens in all areas of Tanzania. As a result, NMB has become the leading retail bank in Tanzania, with over 145 branches serving 95% of Tanzania’s districts.

The adoption of mobile phones for communications in Africa has created an new infrastructure for on-line banking. The rapid expansion of mobile phone ownership in the developing world is projected to grow 104 percent in east Africa and NMB is leveraging these tools expand and capitalize on it. NMB is preparing for this expansion and growth with a new headquarters building, state-of the art data center and associated generator building. The Headquarters building is designed by IPA, based in Tanzania, but a specialist international data center design team was brought in for the data center design.
National Mircofinance Bank - Tanzania

The data center is housed within the head quarters building and is slated to have emergency backup generators. The building has no provisions for the generators inside and the site is severely restricted and almost 100% used. The resulting solution is a 3 story generator building elevated above the ramp to the parking garage.

The height of the generator building is 4 stories because it is three stories and is elevated above the parking ramp. The client and the design team had concerns about the visibility of the structure. The resulting structure enclosed the generators with a similar sun screen that is used on the building tying the 2 structures together.
New York Health and Hospitals Corporation - Data Center

Lothrop Associates worked with Greenman-Pederson, Inc. to renovated and expand the existing Jacobi Medical Center Data Center. The scope included doubling the size of the white space, renovating and upgrading the existing data center, 4 megawatts of N+1, roof top cooling, emergency generator power and staff support space.
